In 1958 Kapsch develops its “Capri” – the first portable transistor radio available on the Austrian market. It is not an exaggeration to say that Kapsch was one of the pioneers in developing these handy radio receivers. 59 years later, right during the age of digitization, Kapsch’s innovative spirit is stronger than ever. Even as we speed towards tomorrow, it is important for us to remember our roots. In 2017 we take time to recall the company's first successes and major milestones. This year we want to honor the fully transistorized portable radio “Capri” – by combining its classic design with the latest in radio and sound technology. We transformed “Capri” into a digital radio that can play up to 40,000 channels and in addition we developed a radio application, which allows distortion-free listening to music via smartphone. The app is available as of September 2017 as a free download for Android and iOS. The Kapsch “Capri” transistor radio – a further example of 125% innovation from Kapsch.
